A bada** nail technician does more than just paint nails ”they create mini canvas of art, that helps boost confidence, and help with a small pocket of self-care in our busy lives. That’s why I’m launching a special monthly feature dedicated to highlighting talented nail technicians who are making an impact in your life not just in the beauty industry.

This month, I’m excited to shine a spotlight on @chawny's.touch a skilled and passionate nail artist who i've had the chance to work with while she was here in Texas . Her creativity and dedication keep clients coming back. From manicures to intricate designs, she transforms every set of nails into a statement.

Here is her journey, inspirations, and what sets her apart!

How many years have you been a nail tech :

10yrs practicing & 8yrs licensed

What made you want to do nails :

"When I was young I remember going with my older sister to get her nails done for her sweet 16 and I fell in love! From the smell, to the conversation, to the design I loved everything about the nail salon! When I got to high school they offered a cosmetology program and I instantly knew I had to apply. I knew doing nails I would be able to express my creativity and be a little bit more free."

What’s your favorite type of design to do and why :

"I love to do full acrylic designs (ex. Encapsulation, acrylic French, marble, etc.) to me personally they look so clean. The lines are always so crisp and there are sooooo many designs you can put into the acrylic! I love doing the foil or marble and then doing an ombre over it!"

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to make this their career ? :

"I would tell anyone getting into this career to make sure they have a passion for it. It’s not always just fun and quick money and if it’s not your passion you will get burnt out very fast. Clients may stress you out and during slow seasons people are so quick to quit. Keep going. If you have no clients at the moment then perfect doing your own nails. You are your own billboard, make sure when people see you they see your craft. Also, strangers will support you faster than your friends/family and that’s ok! Don’t get discouraged."

Why did you choose to work in a salon or suite ? :

"At the moment I work in both a salon in Detroit and a suite in Dallas. The owner of the salon I work in has been doing my hair since I was 10yrs old and I built a personal relationship with her. I love the professional and serene environment that her salon offers. It’s always been a space where I’ve felt comfortable and I knew if I was going to work in a salon I wanted to work in hers. I like the suite situation in Dallas because I like the privacy. In a suite it’s a lot easier to customize and personalize your work space to exactly how you want it because it’s your own space."

If you could do anything in the next few years of your career, what would it be and why? :

"In the next few years I plan on having one of the top rated cosmetology institutions in the country. Quote me on that one! This is just the beginning of my career and I can’t wait for everyone to see what all I have to offer!"
