The Ultimate At-Home Pedicure Routine That Feels Like a Spa Day ( No Appointment Needed )

Updated: Jun 18

Whether you're between appointments or just wanting a little me time. A DIY pedicure is one of the best ways to have a self care day . As a licensed nail tech, i've picked up plenty of protips and i'm sharing my at home pedicure routine . Honestly let's be real with ourselves -sometimes you need a little bit of me-time without the extra spending or waiting hours at the nail salon.

As a former full-time nail tech and salon owner , I've got you covered with ways to save some coin and to relax at home without the wait in an over packed salon.

Here's how I turn my at-home pedicure into a self-care luxury salon experience :

ree

Let's start with the supplies that are not all required but can definitely enhance your at-home pedicure :

  • Pedicure basin (bowl)

  • Foaming bath/ bath bomb

  • Flower soap Petal (not required )

  • 2 Medium-sized towels

  • Acetone

  • Foil soak-off pads

  • Cuticle nippers

  • Toenail clippers

  • File

  • Footlogix callus remover

  • Footlogix Pedicure foot file ( Please skip the cheese grater file )

  • Body /foot scrub

  • Polish of choice ( gel polish is always my choice because there is no drying time)

  • LED/UV gel Light ( only required if you choose gel polish)

  • Moisturizing lotion

  • Cuticle oil

  • Don’t forget the wine (optional)

Ok, now that you have your supplies, let’s start

Step 1: Grab your pedicure bowl

Start by filling your pedicure bowl with warm water and setting it up in your coziest space in your home ( I like my corner of my couch ). Make sure to put a towel under the bowl just in case water spills. Before you get started, make sure all of your supplies are close by.

Step 2: Remove your old polish

If you have old gel polish on, you will want to start by taking your nail file and filing the top, just enough to rough up the top coat so the acetone can work fast. Then you will grab your pre-made foil remover soak off pads and pour acetone into the center ( be generous when pouring the acetone). Do this to all ten pre-made foil pads and wrap them tightly around each toenail. This shouldn't take long. Remove the foil, and you should be able to use the cuticle pusher to remove the rest of the polish. If you have regular polish, just pour acetone on a cotton ball and wipe away the old polish.

Step 3: Soak & soften

Finally it's time to soak your feet ! Just add a teaspoon of epson salt and nice smelling bath bomb( I love lavender or eucalyptus ) into your bowl . Let your feet soak for 5-10 minutes ( we dont want wrinkly toes) to ease any tension and to soften your skin .

Step 4: Trim & Shape

Now that your feet are soft, pat them dry ( no, really, pat them dry, they don't need to be fully dry right now ) and gently push your cuticles back. If you are confident enough, go ahead and use the nippers to trim the cuticles. Trim your toenails straight across to prevent ingrown toenails, and file them to your desired shape. ( Please don't round off your toes too much; this is a nightmare for a nail tech.)

Step 5: Buff, smooth & scrub

While your feet are still out . Grab the Footlogix Callus remover and spray to the rough spots on the bottom of your feet . let this sit and absorb for 3-5 minutes. Then gently exfoliate with the footlogix file to remove any dead and hard skin . Wipe clean then use a exfoliating foot scrub of your choice .

Step 6: Rinse & Refresh

Rinse the foot scrub, making sure it's clean before the polish.

Step 7: Polish Time!

Dry your feet and apply your favorite brand of polish.

( I like to use gel, but I'm beginning to love regular polish again because of the ease of just a polish change when I'm ready for one. I swear by Sally Hansen's Miracle gel, it gives the look of salon quality gel UV lamp and it last.

Step 8: Moisturize & Glow

Finish off with a creamy, rich lotion, applying it only to your legs and feet ( avoiding your toenails ) to seal in all that softness.

And you are all done and have now a successful at-home pedicure without setting foot in a salon.

Your feet (and your budget ) will thank you.

Let me know if you will give this routine a try or if you have your own at home pedicure routine !
